 WHO CAN DONATE

An individual of any age, gender or religion can be an organ donor. The decision to retrieve the organs will be based on the health of the organs. The close relative of the brain dead can give the consent for organ donation if the deceased has not made a will. It is possible that the organs may not be retrieved even if you have given the consent if they are not suitable for transplant.

Organ & tissue transplantation is a modern miracle in the medical field through which thousands of life can be saved. Improved surgical techniques & new anti-rejection drugs have increased the survival rates in the recipients. There are hundreds of patients waiting for organ transplants due to unavailability of organs. You can choose to be an organ donor & give someone the gift of life after your death. Organ donation is a gift of life to somebody dying at end stage disease. There can be no better act of showing your solidarity with another human being.
